> Measurement protocol, diagnostic thresholds, and publication standard behind the Mac Mouse Fixer double-click reliability study.

Published: July 12, 2026. Protocol 1.0. Baseline edition.

Key facts:

- 100 ms diagnostic boundary for a rapid signal
- 30 single clicks required per browser test
- 0 cross-user results claimed in this baseline edition

## Report status

Mac Mouse Fixer did not previously collect the click-level measurements needed for a defensible comparison across mouse brands or models. This baseline edition publishes the test, classification rules, export format, and minimum sample requirements before any reliability table is released.

## Measurement

The browser test records elapsed time between trusted primary-pointer press events. Participants make 30 relaxed single clicks with a short pause between clicks. An interval of 100 milliseconds or less is marked as rapid.

Classification:

- 0 rapid signals: clear sample; retest if intermittent
- 1 rapid signal: possible chatter; repeat the test
- 2+ rapid signals: repeated rapid signals; confirm, then filter or repair

## Filter suggestion

suggested filter = round up(longest rapid gap + 20 ms)
minimum = 30 ms
maximum = 200 ms

This is a conservative starting point. An unnecessarily high filter can interfere with intentional fast clicking.

## Publication standard

Comparative editions require:

- At least 100 valid completed tests in total
- At least 20 valid tests before naming an individual mouse model
- Duplicate, automated, incomplete, and intentionally rapid tests removed
- Results separated by model
- Sample size shown beside every percentage

## Privacy

The current diagnostic processes click timings locally and does not submit results. Participants can download JSON voluntarily. Contact: support@macfix.click
